Taxi boats are an excellent alternative for reaching the islands of the Ria Formosa from Olhão. More expensive than the ferry but much faster, they offer complete freedom of schedule, day and night. They are also the only way to access places not served by the ferry, such as Deserta Island or Hangares. And as a bonus… they’re perfect if you’ve missed your ferry!
