The Olhão Municipal Market is one of the town’s most iconic places. Located opposite the Ria Formosa, it is made up of two large market halls: one mainly dedicated to fruit, vegetables and local produce, and the other to fresh fish and seafood brought in from the region’s ports and fish markets.

The market is open from Monday to Saturday, generally from 7:00 AM to 1:00 PM, and is closed on Sundays. Morning is the best time to visit, when the stalls are at their fullest and you can experience the lively local atmosphere around the market halls.

Saturday morning is by far the liveliest time. Local producers and vendors also set up stalls outside the buildings and around the market, selling fruit, vegetables, regional products, plants and other local goods. It becomes one of Olhão’s most vibrant weekly gatherings.
